Scottie Scheffler Wins 2026 Masters In Dramatic Final Round...

Scottie Scheffler claimed his second Masters title Sunday after a thrilling back-nine battle at Augusta National. The world No. 1 held off a charging Rory McIlroy by two strokes, finishing at 14-under par to secure the green jacket in front of record Sunday crowds.

The victory comes exactly two years after Scheffler's first Masters win in 2024, cementing his status as golf's dominant player. The 29-year-old Texan becomes just the 18th player to win multiple Masters, joining an elite group that includes Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

Sunday's final round delivered the drama fans expect from Augusta, with five players holding at least a share of the lead during the back nine. McIlroy's eagle at the 13th briefly tied Scheffler before the champion responded with birdies on 14 and 15. A crucial par save at the treacherous 12th hole proved decisive.

The tournament is trending nationally as Americans celebrate another homegrown champion at golf's most prestigious event. Scheffler's win continues a remarkable streak of seven consecutive major victories by American players, the longest such run since 1982.

Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley called it "one of the most competitive Masters in recent memory" during the green jacket ceremony. Sunday's broadcast drew the highest final-round ratings since 2018, with peak viewership during the climactic 16th-18th holes.

Scheffler earned $3.24 million from the tournament's $20 million purse, the largest in Masters history. His wife Meredith, pregnant with their second child, was visibly emotional watching the final putt drop on the 18th green.

The champion credited his recent putting improvements for the victory. "We worked hard on the short game all winter," Scheffler told CBS's Jim Nantz. "To see those 8-footers going in today - that's what wins at Augusta."

With the win, Scheffler extends his lead in the Official World Golf Ranking and becomes the betting favorite for next month's PGA Championship. The victory also secures his spot on the 2026 U.S. Ryder Cup team that will compete at Adare Manor in Ireland.
