NASA To Livestream Artemis II Mission Today As Crew Prepares For Moon Flyby...

NASA will broadcast the Artemis II mission live today as the four-person crew conducts a critical lunar flyby, marking humanity's first return to the Moon's vicinity in over 50 years. The livestream, available on NASA's website and YouTube channel, begins at 10:30 AM ET as the Orion spacecraft approaches within 6,400 miles of the lunar surface.

The mission is trending nationwide as Americans tune in for this historic moment in space exploration. Artemis II astronauts Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman, and Jeremy Hansen have spent the past week testing spacecraft systems during their outbound journey.

Today's maneuver will use the Moon's gravity to slingshot the crew back toward Earth, setting the stage for future Artemis III lunar landings. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson called it "a pivotal moment for NASA and our international partners" during a press briefing Wednesday.

Public interest has surged with over 1.2 million YouTube pre-views of NASA's livestream. Schools across the US are incorporating the broadcast into science classes, while major networks including CNN and Fox News will carry NASA's feed.

The 10-day mission remains on schedule despite minor communication delays reported April 9. NASA confirmed all systems are functioning normally as the crew prepares for today's closest approach at 1:15 PM ET.

Viewers can watch mission control updates and live spacecraft footage throughout the day. The broadcast will feature commentary from NASA experts and possible live interviews with the astronauts during their return journey.

Artemis II represents the final test before NASA attempts to land astronauts on the Moon in 2025. The agency plans to establish a sustainable lunar presence this decade, with eventual missions to Mars.
