Justin Bieber And Tems Spark Collaboration Rumors After Studio Sighting...

Justin Bieber and Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems were spotted leaving a Los Angeles recording studio together late Friday night, fueling speculation of a potential collaboration. Photos obtained by TMZ show the two artists exiting the facility separately but within minutes of each other, with Bieber later liking a fan's tweet about the encounter. The sighting comes just weeks after Tems won her first Grammy for her work on Rihanna's "Lift Me Up."

Music industry insiders suggest the pairing could signal Bieber's continued interest in global sounds following his 2021 album "Justice." Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, has become one of Africa's most sought-after collaborators, working with Drake, Future, and Beyoncé in recent years. Neither artist's representatives have confirmed the nature of their meeting.

The rumor gained traction Sunday when producer DJ Khaled reposted fan theories about the collaboration on his Instagram Story with fire emojis. This triggered a wave of social media excitement, particularly among Nigerian fans celebrating Tems' rising international profile. Billboard reports searches for both artists spiked 320% combined since the studio photos surfaced.

Bieber last released new music in 2022 with his "Freedom" EP, while Tems is reportedly working on her debut solo album following the success of her 2020 EP "For Broken Ears." The potential cross-genre collaboration would mark Bieber's first major project since canceling the remainder of his Justice World Tour due to health concerns.

Los Angeles-based music journalist Claire Edwards told Variety: "This could be a strategic move for both artists. Bieber taps into Afrobeats' growing U.S. popularity, while Tems gains access to his massive North American fanbase." The rumor comes as Afrobeats streams in America increased 550% over the past five years according to Spotify data.

Fans noted Bieber previously expressed admiration for African music during a 2021 interview with Apple Music. Meanwhile, Tems has been vocal about wanting to work with artists outside her usual genre, telling Rolling Stone last month: "Music has no borders when it's authentic."

As of Monday afternoon, neither artist has addressed the speculation directly. However, Tems' management confirmed to Billboard she's currently in Los Angeles for "recording sessions," while Bieber was seen attending church with wife Hailey Baldwin earlier Sunday.

The timing coincides with increased attention on African artists following Burna Boy's historic Grammy performance and Rema's "Calm Down" becoming the first Afrobeats song to top Billboard's Radio Songs chart. Industry analysts suggest a Bieber-Tems collaboration could further cement Afrobeats' commercial viability in Western markets.
