Florida Woman Missing In Bahamas After Disappearing From Resort...

A 32-year-old Florida woman has been reported missing in the Bahamas after vanishing from a Nassau resort on April 5. The disappearance of Taylor Casey, a Chicago-born mental health professional, has sparked a multi-agency search and growing concern among US travelers to the popular vacation destination.

Casey was last seen at the Sandals Royal Bahamian resort, where she was attending a wellness retreat. Local authorities confirmed Wednesday that her personal belongings were found in her room, with no signs of foul play. The US State Department is assisting with the investigation.

The case has gained attention in the US due to rising safety concerns about Caribbean travel. Three American tourists died under suspicious circumstances in the Bahamas earlier this year, including two at another Sandals resort in 2022. The FBI has joined the search at the request of Bahamian officials.

Casey's family has flown to Nassau to assist with search efforts. "We just want Taylor home," her mother told reporters outside police headquarters. The Royal Bahamas Police Force has deployed dive teams and K-9 units to scour nearby coastal areas.

Travel safety experts note the Bahamas saw a 21% increase in violent crime last year, though most incidents occur away from tourist zones. The US Embassy in Nassau issued updated safety guidelines last month, warning visitors to exercise increased caution.

Sandals Resorts said in a statement they are "fully cooperating" with investigators. The company operates 16 all-inclusive properties across the Caribbean, popular with American travelers seeking tropical getaways.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Royal Bahamas Police Force at +1-242-322-4444 or the FBI's Miami field office. The case remains under active investigation as search efforts continue along Nassau's western coastline.
